Summary
In this free demo, Frank Ordaz will demonstrate his approach to painting dynamic, realistic impressionistic portraits in oil paint, with special focus on understanding the importance of light and how it reveals the character and planes of the head. He will also discuss mediums, brushes, and surfaces that influence how a portrait will eventually turn out, as well as using “Color Chords” to create harmonic color schemes.
As part of the live demonstration, Frank Ordaz will be working with and from a live model, the "Time Traveler."
A fine artist and illustrator, Frank Ordaz is known for his luminous landscapes and figurative work, with a special interest in how light helps bring out emotion and the cinematic qualities of landscapes.
Besides his personal body of work, he is also known for doing environmental matte paintings for iconic ILM films such as Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, Star Trek: Wrath of Khan, and The NeverEnding Story.
