Summary

A Roseville Reads and Blue Line Arts Collaboration

"A Psalm for the Wild-Built" is a science fiction novel written by Becky Chambers. The protagonist, Sibling Dex, is a tea monk who becomes disillusioned with their existence and embarks on a journey of self-discovery. Along the way, Dex encounters a robot named Mosscap who also seeks answers about life and purpose. Together, they explore the wilderness and contemplate the meaning of existence, forming a deep bond along the way. The novel explores themes of identity, spirituality, and the relationship between humanity and nature. Becky Chambers is known for her compassionate and character-driven storytelling, and "A Psalm for the Wild-Built" is no exception.

Sign up below to create and design your own book nook scene inspired by the theme of harmony in the wilderness! The Teaching Artist will lead you step by step as you transform an empty nook to into your own sanctuary to reflect your interpretation of harmony in this wild world; your own respite between the peace of nature and the buzz of society.

All art supplies and materials will be provided such as natural wooden elements, moss, and fairy lights to give your scene a magical touch. Don't forget to add a mini version of you amongst the foliage! We challenge the weary traveler to take a moment, savor some tea, and reflect on how we all fit in this grand plan of life.
